Romero, Ramirez reign as Homecoming king and queen

Raider+Royalty

homecoming-courtIt has to be one of the most important events to start off the new school year — Homecoming!

This is especially true for these two athletic seniors, Fernando Romero and Leslie Ramirez, who became CI’s Royalty during this event.

From wearing football cleats and basketball shoes, to dress shoes and high heels, this is the story behind the story of  becoming Channel Islands’ Homecoming 2015 King and Queen.

Most people would probably feel a little nervous getting nominated for something as big as homecoming at school, but Romero stayed optimistic throughout this experience.

“It felt good to know people think of me as a good enough person to be king,” stated Romero, who was ecstatic about the students’ votes.

“It was a cool experience. I liked the atmosphere, and I had a good time,” replied Romero, as he chuckled, when asked how  he enjoyed the night at the Grammy’s.

Romero has many goals for what he wants to do after leaving The Islands.

“I want to be the first person in my family to go to college and hopefully play football while I’m there,” he said.

Although he doesn’t have a specific college in mind just yet, he’s determined to accomplish his goals.

Channel Islands’ Queen was a little more edgy about the event.

“I felt really nervous and scared because I thought I was going to fall in my heels,” she said. “I enjoyed it though.”

Ramirez did a spectacular job by adding a dash of glam to outweigh her nerves as she walked down the aisle at the Homecoming rally.

Ramirez is looking forward to her future and fulfilling her dreams.

“I want to go to a four-year university and become an English teacher,” stated the queen of not only homecoming, but the basketball court, as well.

When asked about her dearest moment throughout the whole homecoming event, Ramirez replied, “My favorite moment was being able to share it with my close friend, Fernie, and just everything in general.”

Romero and Ramirez are leaving their marks here at CI as phenomenal student-athletes and great people overall. There are no questions asked as to why Raider’s chose these two to become Channel Islands’ Royalty for this year’s Homecoming event.
