Assistant coach Marissa Riley noted that Vasquez is one of many on the team that have showed consistency throughout the season.
“The strongest people aren’t always the ones who win but the people who don’t give up when they lose,” said coach Riley.
Gianna Zamarripa, senior, handles both pitching and shortstop duties. Against Hueneme, Zamarripa pitched a complete game as well as adding two singles and two doubles at the plate.
“I’m very proud of our team,” said Zamarripa. “These past games showed that if we want it we can get it.”
The Raiders look to continue their recent hot streak this upcoming season, as they continue league play with both Fillmore and Carpinteria at home. The team will look to continue their success, as Vasquez said that the team looks to stay, “disciplined and humble” as they pursue a possible CIF playoff berth.
“We are determined to win the rest of the season,” Vasquez said.
