Raider Movie Review: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Well, guys, it looks like Marvel did it again, with not only one, but FOUR movies that hit top of the box office. “Venom Let There Be Carnage” didn’t quite make it to number one, because that spot belongs to “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.”

As Marvel adds yet another title to the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), this entry is the highest-grossing Marvel film currently this year. But what is Shang-Chi, you ask? Well, if you would let me talk I was getting to that (without spoilers, mind you).

Shang-Chi is an action, martial arts movie with fantasy aspects as per Marvel standard. And as per the Marvel standard, it does not slouch when it comes to visual effects, story, sound design, and camera work that when combined, leave you in awe.

The fight scenes are a treat to behold, almost like a form of dance. Covering the story briefly would be that Shang-Chi is about 10 ancient rings of power that grant the user immortality. Of course the main character would be Shang-Chi, played by Simu Liu, a Canadian citizen born in China. Before acquiring the part of Shang-Chi, he was in “Women Is Losers,” “Blood and Water,” and was the English voice actor for Iozu, the main character of “Bright: Samurai Soul.”

This film through and through it is a great one that stands at a strong 8.5/10 by most people, but I feel this movie is a must-watch this season. Rightfully so, it also leaves excitement wondering what will happen in the next installment in the MCU.
