Singer Valeria Hernandez

Senior Valeria Hernandez, age 17, is a young lady who was born and raised in the city of Oxnard. Her parents are from Mexico and she carries with a lot of pride for where she comes from.

The CIHS senior started to sing Mexican ranchera music at the age of 7 years old and has been doing it ever since. That’s 10 years of hard work, determination, and positivity. Her biggest satisfaction in life and how she represents her culture is expressing her talent to the people with her beautiful voice.

“Never give up on your dreams. Nothing is easy but nothing is impossible,” said Hernandez.

The love, applause, and support of her fans means everything to her. It’s an amazing, joyful, and wonderful feeling for her to be able to sing and be motivated through their compliments.

Hernandez started to sing professionally as a soloist in 2019. In 2020, she decided to take a further step into her music career. That’s when she launched her own project, called Valeria Veron Y Su Grupo Divino. She has been with her group for 1 year and 2 months. They play a variety of music, such as norteñas, cumbias, and corridos.

Hernandez is the lead singer; Hector Tapia plays the acoustic guitar; Edgar Tellez plays the bass; Arturo Figueroa is the accordionist; Angel Vazquez is the drummer. Valeria is the only one who attends CI, and she will be graduating class of 2022.

She has played with her grupo in a jaripeo/baile in the City of Bakersfield, and presented with her grupo in Casa Lopez Nightclub and Ruby’s Nightclub from Oxnard. She also presented in Marlo’s Night Club from Fresno.

Her biggest influences in life are Selena Quintanilla and Jenni Rivera; she identifies a lot with them. Her plans after high school are to go to university and study business management, but she also sees herself on a big stage with a lot of people and playing with her grupo.
