I am excited to get a COVID vaccine! In fact, I’m scheduled to receive my first shot tomorrow, May 1. I feel confident in the science, doctors, and medical experts. I have also been doing my best to keep myself updated with the latest COVID news and informed about the vaccines and vaccination process.

In my family, so far, my eldest sister, brother-in-law, and aunt are the only ones who have been fully vaccinated. My eldest sister and brother-in-law have each received two shots of the Pfizer vaccine, and my aunt received two shots of the Moderna vaccine. All three of them only experienced fatigue or soreness, nothing severe.

Overall, I feel extremely lucky to be living in a time when we are able to have fully developed and effective vaccines after only a year in a pandemic. The vaccines we have today are thanks to decades of prior research. I am incredibly grateful for all the scientists and researchers who developed the vaccines available to us now.

The more people get vaccinated, the sooner we can return to a sense of normalcy. So, I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to get vaccinated when they can. It will be our way out of the dark tunnel we have been travelling this past year. Still, we cannot let our guards down. We must listen to the medical experts. It is crucial to continue to wash our hands and mask up and distance in public to solidify our win against COVID-19.
