Ask Raider Sam

Dear Raider Sam,

High school is near to an end and I haven’t decided on what I will do afterward. Everyone keeps on asking me “What are you doing after high school?” I tell them “I don’t know.” Please help me out with some advice on where to start. This has been on my mind recently.

-Blue Champion

Dear Blue Champion,

It’s totally okay if you don’t know what you want to do after high school. The school year has just started so you have the rest of the year to decide. Try not to stress over it too much because you are definitely not the only one going through this. Try to take time to think about what you are interested in. Maybe you can get ideas from your friends, family, and teachers. There are also many programs offered a CI that can help you figure out what you might be interested in doing.

Dear Raider Sam,

Recently, I’ve realized that some of my friends aren’t as reliable or trustworthy as I thought. They’ll share private conversations with other people without my consent. They’re not the same trustworthy and reliable people I met. I’m not sure if I should even keep them in my life or cut them off. What do you think?

-Worried Companion

Dear Worried Companion,

Real friends would never do things without your consent nor will they make you feel as if your privacy has been invaded. Real friends are loyal and trustworthy. I know that they may mean a lot to you, but it would be best if you let them go. You shouldn’t have to deal with toxic friends. I suggest that you start looking for people who will actually value your friendship.

Dear Raider Sam,

I’m afraid I won’t be able to be the daughter my parents deserve. I try so hard but I still can’t be as good as the rest. I have hopes and dreams of going to my dream school, but money is a big issue. I want nothing more than to have a successful career. How could I be better?

-Average Junior

Dear Average Junior,

Never doubt yourself and stop selling yourself short. Never ask if you are good enough because you are. Nobody is perfect and you don’t have to be either. Have some confidence in yourself. You can still achieve your dreams and go to your dream school. You can apply for so many scholarships and financial aid. There is help out there. Just keep working hard and things will start looking up soon.
