Class of 2020, let’s rock the vote

Just recently I have come to realize that I, along with most of the rest of the junior class, will be eligible to vote for the first time for the 2020 presidential election. Just our luck, some may think. The way I see it is that it is certainly meant to be.

I believe that our class and generation is it. We can change our community by changing its mind set on voting.

I have witnessed that past generations have not taken voting seriously, especially in our community. Our community seems to believe that their votes aren’t worthy, or they simply just refuse to vote because they don’t believe that any candidates are fit for the job.

When most of our community believes that, it means that we have a large amount of people not voting. Therefore, they are letting others make the decision for them. The saying that “every vote counts” is actually true.

When the outcome is announced, our community gets infuriated, but where were their opinions and voices when voting was an option?

We are currently going through an election season and people should realize that their votes count. Voting is a serious thing that can improve our lives for the better.

If our young generation can change the way others perceive voting and our government then we can persuade our people to vote and have a voice in what happens in their lives. Voting is important and if you have the privilege to vote then vote. Be the voice that someone else can’t have.
