Mr. Bowman Shoots, Dunks Way to March Madness Titles

It’s that time of season, making buckets and breaking ankles. March Madness is here, allowing Raiders to compete against each other in three separate events: 2-ball shooting, 3 on 3, and the dunk contest.

Both 2-ball shooting and the dunk contest took place in the quad recently, while the 3 on 3 tournament was held on the P.E. basketball courts.

For the 2-ball, many good shooters were out there scoring as many points as they could rack up within a restricted amount of time. The victors that arose above all else were Mr. Brad Bowman and Mr. John Grennan, putting all the young whippersnappers in their place.

The most fascinating event held was the dunk contest. Participants were soaring in the air, keeping themselves elevated above the ground, and smashing down on the rim. Some tries failed, others prevailed.

The spectacle of attempted shots was phenomenal and creative. Some performed were: jump-over-assistant dunk, rim toss, the windmill, behind the back, 360, opposite sides rim toss, 2nd story toss, the stool, and many good old-fashioned dunks.

In the end, judges Mr. David Corona, Mr. Adam Gamboa and Ms. Milly Madonna crowned Mr. Bowman the champion.

The 3 on 3 tournament was well organized and competitive. In 12-minute games, players were calling fouls, saving out-of- bound balls, laying up with two people on them, denying entrees, and breaking ankles.

The winning team was made up of Ray Gallardo, Luis Rizo, Johnathan Raya and Isaac Lerma.
