Mall Cop strikes again

The last time we saw Paul Blart he was saving people who were taken hostage by a gang. That was six years ago and now he’s back and at it again.

“Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2” was released in theaters on April 17. Co-written and starring Kevin James, the film takes place in Las Vegas, where Paul and his daughter Maya (Raini Rodriguez) attend a security officer’s convention.

Within the first minute of the film, it will have you laughing. We learn that after six days of marriage to Amy Anderson, who Paul marries in the first film, she files for divorce. He is devastated and to make things worse, his mother is run over by a milk truck and dies.

The storyline is set into motion once Paul receives his invitation to the convention. He is more than happy to attend and is even more excited to be taking Maya along with him.

Meanwhile, Maya is informed that she got accepted into UCLA. She doesn’t tell her father right away, seeing as how her news might upset him. But once she does tell him, let’s just say that his reaction will leave you laughing.

When they arrive at their hotel in Vegas, Paul meets fellow security officer Donna Ericone (Loni Love) who tells him that he may be delivering the key note speech at the convention. However, after meeting Nick Manero (Nicholas Turturro), who is also a security officer, Paul learns that Manero is the one giving the speech. Due to a drunken Manero not being able to deliver the speech, Paul is then chosen to step in as his replacement.

While Paul is delivering his heartfelt speech, Maya is trying to get a hold of him to tell him about witnessing art thieves planning their heist. She ends up being kidnapped, along with her friend Lane who she meets when she first arrives at the hotel, prompting Paul to set out on his mission to rescue her.

With its great story and hilarious scenes, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 earns its right to be called a comedy. I highly recommend the movie to everyone. You don’t need to have watched the first movie for this one to make sense. All you need is to be prepared for a good laugh.
