Caution: Black Friday approaches

Black Friday is the day when parking is chaotic, sales are not that great, and sleep is nonexistent. It sounds crazy that people take the time to actually camp out at many big retail/electronic stores to get dibs on the first deals.

On November 29, get ready to push and shove your way through dozens of “good” deals and put up with cranky, rude people. Everyone stresses over finding the best deals for the perfect gift. Some people even go to the extreme of camping outside of stores and malls a week prior to Black Friday.

Without a doubt, there are going to be those people who will cut you in line, fight over parking, and for the last Michael Kors handbag.

But is it all worth it? Not only will the other shoppers irritate you to death, but the seasonal workers will eventually snap on you. I know this from experience. They will have no problem sending you back to the end of the line for any reason.

I mean, who can blame them? Standing at a register for long hours ringing up customers with loads of merchandise can get pretty exhausting.

Back to contemplating whether this Friday madness is worth the drive, time and money, I would say it depends on what you are looking for.

I think waking up early to go to Best Buy and saving a couple hundred bucks on a flat screen or laptop is worth it. But if you’re going for retail such as your favorite clothing stores, I would think twice about that.

Of course there will be door busters and sales of that sort, but most of them are not the “greatest deals” you are usually looking for, or the ones advertised on paper and TV.

Some retail stores’ percentage discounts don’t differ much from their everyday deals. If you want to find the perfect gift and get the best deal on this day, you should decide what you’re going to sacrifice. You have to be willing to really look for those deals because there are going to be hundreds of other people digging, pushing, and shoving for the same deals as you.

Get ready for this night of death, for it is coming soon.
