Ask Raider Sam

Dear Raider Sam,

School is more stressful than ever. I try to take care of my mental health the best I can, but my grades start to slip. My health goes down, my grades go up. My grades go down, my health goes up. I don’t know how to balance this. What do I do?

Sincerely,  Stressed Student

Dear Stressed Student,

You can also manage both simultaneously, eat healthily, and work healthily. Take small breaks and move around too. After you move around, you can go back to work. Make sure to work on assignments that are not stressful. I understand that some work is stressful but a good education and good health can make it easier. Also, don’t stay up and keep working on assignments because that’s bad for your health. When you’re working on assignments, work on assignments that you’re missing. Once you have completed the missing studies, you can work on other assignments one at a time.

Sincerely, Raider Sam

Dear Raider Sam,

I am a CI student. School has been challenging and hard to focus on. It’s hard for me to do homework without getting distracted. How can I stay focused and get my homework done?

Sincerely, Stressed Junior

Dear Stressed Junior,

Don’t worry, I get distracted from working on my homework as well. You should go to the library, find a quiet place to work, and mute your devices. If you still get distracted, you can shake it off and continue working. Also, you can always bring snacks with you and listen to soft music.

Sincerely, Raider Sam

Dear Raider Sam,

I’ve been feeling super left out by my friend group lately. They make plans without me, exclude me from their conversations, etc. I know I should cut them off but I’m scared since they’re my only friends. Any advice?

Sincerely, Left Lonely

Dear Left Lonely,

I, too, felt that pain before back in middle school. I was scared of leaving them as well because they were my only friends too. If your friends are leaving you out, not including you in their events and conversations, then you should leave them. Don’t be stuck with friends who leave you out, they might continue leaving you out. There are thousands of people here on the Islands for you to be friends with. You can make friends in your classes, clubs you joined in, and also make friends with teachers. Don’t stay with the friends you have currently when they leave you out. If you really like your friends, you need to share how you feel with them.

Sincerely, Raider Sam
