Most Memorable Christmases

Santa with some nice Raiders

The most memorable Christmas I’ve had was when I was 10 years old. I remember my family having this tradition where we eat Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve, then wait until midnight and if you’re awake you get to open presents. We did this every year because some of my family works on Christmas day, but mostly because of how impatient we were.

We had just finished dinner and I remember my mom saying, “I think I hear Santa outside.” I ran out to see my dad. I was so happy because I rarely got to see him. He told me to wait on the driveway with my mom and he went behind the car. I heard something thud on the street and a big RC Jeep comes around the car parked on the driveway. I was so stoked and excited. He only played with it for a bit because on Christmas day he picks us up and he takes us to his house. I drove it around for hours, hitting many things, and to this day that Jeep is my most memorable and best present.

My most memorable Christmas was the year my family and I went to Frazier park a couple of years ago, probably around 2014-2015. As a child I had always watched movies, TV shows, commercials, and basically anything with a visual representation that had always contained snow especially around Christmas time.

Eventually after watching anything where a family went on a fun memorable trip to the snow, I too had wanted to experience what always looked like a grand time to me. This certain Christmas my parents surprised me and my siblings with us going to Frazier park (which wasn’t the snowiest place like big bear), but it was still enough to make me happy.

I remember the morning we were set to go. I woke up and put on various layers of clothes like 3 pairs of pants (that I somehow managed to fit) 4 shirts (that were basically one with me) and as many pairs of socks I could put that would fit inside my shoe (I eventually went up a shoe size or two). After my brand-new transformation (along with my entire family) we all set out looking like the Michelin Man or Michelin Tire Man and we sat in the car for hours until we reached our destination.

Eventually when we arrived we all got out and just began having fun like we had a snow fight, sledded down a hill of snow (which I fell off from and almost went straight into a tree), and made snowmen. Hours and hours had passed, and it was finally time for us to leave so we took all our belongs with us and set back to Oxnard. Overall this was my most memorable Christmas because of how I got to experience real snow and being with my family by spending quality time together and having fun.

Christmas is a holiday that is filled with joy, love, and most of all happiness. Being able to be with family has no price. For me, every Christmas is special, but one certain Christmas will stay in my memories forever.
This Christmas, my whole life at that time changed completely. The year was 2010, an 8-year-old me was excited to see if Santa Claus had gotten me the gifts I had asked for. Celebrating Christmas at my house has been a longtime tradition in my family. My house is the go-to house for every holiday, and Christmas that year was no exception. Our Christmas Eve reunion that year went well; we had so much food and shared many laughs. Now, the real deal was Christmas.
Since some of my cousins were going to sleep over, we decided to stay awake and wait for Santa Claus to come. Boy, were we in for a big surprise. We decided to take snacks into my room to keep us all awake for the hours to come. At around 2 in the morning, we heard some ruffling noises coming from the chimney in the living room. The door had been left slightly open so that we could get out of the room with ease.
The image that we all saw, after fully opening the door, was heartbreaking. It was our parents; our parents were Santa. I distinctly remember the cry of one of my cousins. After that we all began to cry and ask our parents why they had been lying to us all these years.

Christmas 2010 will forever be imbedded in my life as the most memorable Christmas to date, but not for the happiest reasons.

Christmas is such a beautiful and happy time of the year. Around this season it becomes really cold, but that’s what it’s all about. During this time all anyone wants to do is drink hot chocolate and be at home nice and warm with nothing to worry about.

Each and every Christmas is very beautiful but one of the most memorable Christmases was a couple years ago. The reason why it was a Christmas to remember is because I had my family with me. Having your family makes everything a million times.

Something I love about Christmas is the food because we make the best food. What we make is tamales, pozole, baked goods and a lot more. My favorite food of all is the tamales because I have to wait all year long so we can finally make them on that day. The house also feels nice and warm and you can just have fun with your family and you can’t ask for anything better. I also love it when were all spending time with each other.

One thing I wish is that my family and I could spend more time with each other after Christmas, but life keeps you busy. I couldn’t ask for anything more than having a blast with the most wonderful people in my life on the most wonderful time of the year.
